Becky Hammon reportedly interested in becoming New York Knicks head coach

Three things seem to be guaranteed in life – death, taxes and the New York Knicks looking like a complete cluster of an organization.

The Knicks’ latest conclusion – after an offseason where the team failed to sign Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, Kemba Walker and failed to land the first overall pick (Zion Williamson, New Orleans Pelicans), is that the fault is on the coach and it is time to sack said coach.

So David Fizdale was let go as Knicks coach, which has (as expected), prompted a litany of speculation as to who will take his place.

While the names that may jolt the interest of many a Knicks fan include Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, Sam Mitchell, Tom Thibodeau and others, one of the potential suitors includes someone who knows Madison Square Garden very well.

A CNBC report indicates current San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon would have interest if she were to land a four- or five-year contract. Hammon went undrafted before suiting up and showing up for the New York Liberty from 1999-2006, where she was part of three Liberty teams that reached the Finals.

The Hammon speculation started en masse on #WNBATwitter as soon as the Fizdale news broke. Said news elicited much reaction on social media.

And among those who also weighed in on the Hammon speculation was Charles Barkley. When Chuck speaks, people listen because his words will surely have the masses talking. TMZ caught up with Barkley and he believes Hammon should stay away from the Garden, calling the Knicks a “bad job.”
