Candice Wiggins was not the only sports figure in the news for making a controversial statement.

So was the NFL’s Jameis Winston, who was under fire for words he spoke to elementary school kids, telling them that women should be “silent, polite, and gentle.”

Needless to say, Chamique Holdsclaw the WNBA great, who played much of her career with the Washington Mystics and the Los Angeles Sparks was having None. Of. It.

When talking to TMZ Sports about the matter, Holdsclaw felt Winston committed an egregious turnover.

When I’m out there ministering to young girls, I’m telling them you gotta be your authentic self.

You can’t heed to traditional stereotypes of what a woman should be.

Holdsclaw was not finished. She had a stern message to any man who feels it is his duty to keep women in their place.

We have to teach these men and boys not to tear us down either and not limit us with their expectations or perceptions of us.
