Not too long ago, the Los Angeles Sparks saw the departure of Brian Agler as head coach. His position is now, of course, occupied by Derek Fisher.
Another high-profile departure has now taken place in the City of Angels as Chief Operating Officer Christine Simmons departs from the Sparks to take on a similar position at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Per a press release, she will be The Academy’s first-ever COO and she will start at her new post in mid-January. That release also says that the find for her replacement is “near completion” and will be announced soon.
From the owners, to the front office, to the players and most importantly the fans, I want to thank the entire Sparks family for an unforgettable five years. I know the Sparks are poised to reach new heights and I will be here to support the team every step of the way.
–Christine Simmons per press release
I’d like to thank Christine for helping the Sparks grow both as a business as well as a change-agent in the greater Los Angeles community.
