Diana Taurasi highlighted in upcoming Chelsea Clinton ‘She Persisted’ book about women athletes

The third rendition of former first daughter Chelsea Clinton’s “She Persisted” book series shines a spotlight on woman athletes that overcame the odds and defied societal gender norms to become well-respected names in sports.

The book is slated to be released May of this year, and if one were to flip through the pages, one will see that one of the athletes highlighted is the WNBA’s very own Diana Taurasi.

Taurasi’s resume speaks for itself – three NCAA championships, three WNBA championships, one of the WNBA’s 20@20, the W’s all-time scoring champ, nine WNBA All-Star appearances and four Olympic gold medals among a what’s what of other accolades.

Among the history-making women in sports that the book also hails includes Serena and Venus Williams, Simone Biles, Mia Hamm, Margaret Ives Abbott, Kristi Yamaguchi, Mildred “Babe” Didrikson Zaharias, Wilma Rudolph, Jean Driscoll, Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Ibtihaj Muhammad and Jocelyne and Monique Lamoreux.

I have been overwhelmed by the response to the She Persisted series which celebrates strong women who have persevered, against the odds, to make a difference for themselves and our world.

And my hope is that this book will similarly inspire and empower young readers – girls and boys alike – to dream big and know that with imagination and persistence, they too can change a sport, community, country, and our world for the better.

The original “She Persisted” mentioned 13 American women that left their mark on the United States and the second – “She Persisted Around the World” spotlights 13 women that left their mark on the world.
