The Chicago Sky’s Elena Delle Donne may play her professional basketball in the Windy City, but has not forgotten about the First State by any means.

Delle Donne took the time to visit chronically ill students at the First State School at Wilmington Hospital. She aimed to inspire those at the school that Lyme disease, a condition that once plagued Delle Donne, should not deter students from pursuing their dreams.

She said an important piece of the puzzle to success is to surround oneself with people that want to see the same for themselves.

They can help you get through those toughest times, because we know we can’t get through them alone.

The First State School—part of Delaware’s Christiana Care Health System, gives young children with major illnesses the opportunity to attend school, while they would otherwise be still at home, as well as receive treatment for what ails them.
