The 21st WNBA season is not even a week old, yet someone is preparing to hang up their hoops jersey.

Earlier this week, Australia’s very own Erin Phillips was waived by the Dallas Wings. Phillips’ next move was not to try to continue her career, but rather retire from the WNBA altogether.

I’ve loved every minute of my time with the Wings and want to thank them for their consideration and professionalism they have shown throughout the process.

The announcement was conucted via AdelaideNow.com, an Australian newspaper. Recently, she began partaking in Australian rules football in addition to basketball.

Phillips will depart from the W as a two-time champion and having averaged 6.3 points per game in an 11-year career that spanned five teams—the Sun, Fever, Mercury, Sparks, and Wings.
