Washington Wizards fans throughout the mid-Atlantic region will have the honor of listening to former WNBA and women’s college basketball star Kara Lawson provide insight as a color analyst for Wizards games this season.

The announcement was made recently by Comcast Sports Net Mid-Atlantic – which will soon undergo a name change to NBC Sports Washington along with other NBC-owned regional sports channels. A report out of the Associated Press indicates Lawson will continue her work with ESPN in addition to doing work with the Wizards’ television side.

There are not many times in life when you are offered an opportunity that fits on so many levels. To cover the NBA on a day-to-day basis as part of a team, is a dream come true. I look forward to working with everyone on the CSN Mid-Atlantic team and the Washington Wizards.

Lawson is replacing Phil Chenier who was the team’s primary color analyst for 33 years and in 2007 became the first female analyst for a nationally televised NBA game.

The DMV’s sporting landscape is very familiar with the name Kara Lawson as she attended West Springfield High School in Virginia.
