Even though Kim Mulkey will be inducted later on this year into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, the three-time national championship-winning coach is still padding on to her already illustrious and lengthy resume.

It became official after her No. 2 Baylor dispatched Texas Tech by a final score of 77-62 in Lubbock – she is now the quickest coach in history (women’s or men’s) to reach 600 victories.

Fittingly, her 600th win came in her 700th game – and it occurred where she has made her mark on women’s sports – in the state of Texas.

Heading into the fourth quarter, it was in doubt as to if Tuesday night would be the night where Mulkey made history. Texas Tech and Baylor were all knotted up at 52 after three periods, but the Bears outdid the Raiders 25-10 in the closing frame en route to the win.

After the game, Baylor ran its record up to 24-1 and an undefeated 13-0 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech is 15-9 and is 4-9 in conference.

Juicy Landrum led Baylor with 19 points, four rebounds and four assists. Baylor got 13 points each from NaLyssa Smith and Lauren Cox with Smith (nine) and Cox (seven) combining for 16 rebounds. Queen Egbo scored 12 points off the Baylor Bears bench and Te’a Cooper added 11 points with seven assists to the Bears’ efforts.

For Texas Tech, Brittany Brewer had 19 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double. Lexi Gordon added 17 points with four boards and four dimes. Chrislyn Carr contributed 11 points to the Raiders’ efforts.

Baylor takes the court next on Saturday against Oklahoma at home. Texas Tech returns to action on Sunday as they travel to Ames to take on Iowa State.

With the milestone-setting victory in the rearview mirror, the Bears can look forward to the remainder of the season – and the NCAA Tournament. Charlie Crème’s latest Bracketology prognostication on ESPN has the defending national champion Bears as one of the four No. 1 seeds with Oregon, Maryland and overall No. 1 South Carolina.
