One of the storylines much-talked about when the Seattle Storm won this past year’s WNBA title was how the core built in Seattle could have the makings of a team that could reel off a dynasty.

With Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, and Jewell Loyd as part of that core, there is reason to believe this could be true.

A Las Vegas sportsbook has released current odds as it relates to next season – and it has the Storm as 9/5 favorites to repeat and win the 2019 championship.

The team the Storm defeated to claim the 2018 crown – the Washington Mystics come in second with 9/2 odds.

The Connecticut Sun, another team said to be on the rise by W pundits is third at 6/1 followed by the Atlanta Dream, Las Vegas Aces, and Los Angeles Sparks tied at fourth with 8/1 odds.

The Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury are tied at seventh at 12/1 odds. This is surprising on the Mercury side given Phoenix was only one win shy of competing in the WNBA Finals. It may not be a surprise on the Minnesota end of things given the continuation of their dynasty is in doubt, but 2019 is another odd-numbered year, after all.

At ninth is the Dallas Wings at 25/1 and the Chicago Sky come in at 40/1. Next to last is the New York Liberty with 60/1 odds and the Indiana Fever at 80/1.

The same sportsbook released its opening odds earlier in the month. The placements for the teams are largely unchanged – only the odds are. The Sparks were 10/1 in the previous book and the Wings opened at 20/1. Chicago began at 30/1 and New York originally was 50/1.
