Swin Cash’s time in a WNBA jersey may have come to a close, but she will still be heavily involved with the New York Liberty.

The team announced last week that Cash has been named its Director of Franchise Development.

Such a position is unique and Cash now joins the Los Angeles Sparks’ Penny Toler as the only players to ascend to a front office job immediately after the conclusion of their playing careers.

Over my 15-year career in the WNBA, I have been able to not only play at the highest level on the court, but also serve the players as the VP of the WNBPA union. I’m thankful to the Liberty organization and President Isiah Thomas for the opportunity to continue in a leadership role with the team and city I finished my career in.

I’m just as committed in our front office as I was as a player to helping our team bring a championship to New York.

–Swin Cash

Cash originally joined the Liberty in 2014 and played a little over two seasons in New York after winning championships with the Detroit Shock and Seattle Storm.

And this would definitely qualify as a total boss move! Congratulations on the new title!
