The New York Liberty are now winners of four straight games after defeating the Seattle Storm at home by a final score of 94-86.

Seattle defeated New York last month back out west and the Liberty ensured they would not be in the loss column for a second time against Jenny Boucek’s Storm. All four victories have come since Epiphanny Prince and Kia Vaughn went to participate in the EuroBasket tournament.

While Bill Laimbeer’s team from Gotham has been doing plenty of winning as of late, the Storm have dropped three of its last four (including a 100-77 decision at home at the hands of the undefeated Lynx).

Tina Charles had herself another big game with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Sugar Rodgers chimed in with 21 of her own and Shavonte Zellous added 16. For the Storm, its big three of Breanna Stewart (23), Sue Bird (21) and Jewell Loyd (19) combined for 63 of Seattle’s 86.

Seattle also was fueled by shooting 44 percent from behind the three-point arc.

The Liberty now have a 5-2 home record while the Storm’s road mark currently stands at 1-3.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Storm had an 83-80 lead prior to New York closing the contest out with a 14-3 run and a victory as the clock hit triple zeroes.

On Tuesday, the Storm will be back at Key Arena as they await the Atlanta Dream. The following day, the Liberty will make the short trip up to Connecticut to the Mohegan Sun Arena to face the Sun.
