A staple of Minnesota Lynx broadcasts is the voice of John Focke on the radio call at 106.1 Bob FM in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Focke also worked with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Lynx’s broadcaster is now taking his talents to the Carolinas.

The Charlotte Hornets are a team whose play-by-play status has been the topic of much intrigue after the departure of Stephanie Ready on the television side and the hire and sudden departure of Chris Kroeger on the radio side.

Focke will be on the call for Hornets contests, whose flagship radio station is Entercom-owned WFNZ 610 The Fan. His resume includes being named the 2017 Minnesota Sportscaster of the Year and being on the call for much of the Lynx dynasty.

He first joined Lynx broadcasts in 2012, meaning he called three of the four WNBA championships Minnesota won throughout the 2010s.

I look forward to connecting with the Horntets’ passionate and knowledgeable fan base. I’m excited to start sharing the stories of our players and this franchise.
