The Minnesota Lynx are within one win shy of being at a familiar place—back at the WNBA Finals. This proves to be the case after Minnesota defeated the Phoenix Mercury in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals by a final score of 96-86.

Maya Moore’s 26 points led Minnesota. Lindsay Whalen added 16 and Rebekkah Brunson contributed a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Mercury, they got another huge performance out of Diana Taurasi who scored 31 points in the Phoenix effort. Penny Taylor would score 16.

Minnesota may not have cracked the century mark as they did in Game 1, but they appeared to be on pace to doing so early on, when they outscored the Mercury 35-24 in the first quarter and a 55-47 lead at the half.

The Mercury also could not overcome the fact that they committed 20 turnovers—something any basketball team does not want to do against the defending champions.

Now, in a “do-or-die” scenario, the scene shifts to Phoenix for Game 3 on Sunday night.
