In lieu of getting the cold shoulder from the White House, the Minnesota Lynx have elected to commemorate their 2017 WNBA championship in another way.

That method will be through a community service initiative. The Lynx, who are in the nation’s capital for their matchup on Thursday night against the Mystics, will host a Samaritan’s Feet Shoes of Hope Distribution at Payne Elementary School.

A number of notable shoe brands – including Nike, Jordan Brand, and DTLR will donate socks and shoes to all 340 students attending Payne Elementary, which is a low-income school. The Lynx later participate in a ceremony that honors their on-court and off-court accomplishments from the previous season.

The basketball game itself is also notable from a Mystics standpoint.

All tickets for the Lynx-Mystics game on Thursday afternoon are free. After the game, a watch party will be hosted at Capital One Arena for the NHL’s Washington Capitals, who will play in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals that same night on the road at the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Mystics and Capitals (along with the NBA’s Washington Wizards) are all under the Monumental Sports banner of Ted Leonsis and play at Capital One Arena. As for the Caps, they are up 3-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals on the Golden Knights with a chance to skate around T-Mobile Arena in Vegas with Lord Stanley’s trophy.
