Nike welcomes back Elena Delle Donne from Olympics

After successfully winning her first gold medal as a member of the United States women’s basketball team, the Chicago Sky’s Elena Delle Donne was welcomed back to Chicago with an event fit for an Olympian.

Nike, whose brand appears on the uniforms of the USAB women’s and men’s teams, hosted a homecoming event for Delle Donne at its Michigan Avenue store. It also was to give those browsing through a chance to check out its new “tech pack” fall collection.

Well-known fashion designer BeBe Jones moderated the event and it was hosted by Val Warner, a co-host on a local Chicago news show on ABC7 in the Windy City.

It, of course, is not the first time Delle Donne has done an event or initiative with Nike and likely will not be the last. Recently, The Swoosh teamed with Delle Donne to give newborns in Delaware their first pair of sneakers.

Ironically enough, the recently completed 2016 Olympics almost went to Chicago! So one could have only imagined what Nike would have had planned if Team USA had won gold at the Games if they were only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Magnificent Mile!
