The social media people at the Connecticut Sun were very effective at drawing up interest with only a few days before the entire WNBA family is fixated on free agency.

The Sun for a few days had us fixated on its social media accounts, teasing the announcement of “news” and a “secret.”

As it turned out, the “secret” the Sun was teasing was a slightly revamped logo that puts more emphasis on its signature orange and navy blue colors. The entire top of the logo is nearly all in orange while the logo’s bottom part, which featured the word “Sun” adorned with a blue background, has been replaced with the outline of a basketball.

In addition, the “C” featured prominently on the logo no longer has its shadow that gave it a three-dimensional effect – and it is no longer in red as it has been replaced by a simpler, navy blue “C.” A secondary logo was also released.

The first season for the Sun with the new logo should be an intriguing one as Connecticut is coming off the 2020 season where it advanced to within one game of a second consecutive WNBA Finals. The Sun will get Jonquel Jones back after being absent from the bubble last season but could be without Alyssa Thomas who injured her Achilles overseas.
