The Phoenix Mercury, since its inception, has been a successful basketball franchise both on the court and in the stands. Phoenix is regularly in the top half of WNBA attendance and has won three championships in the Diana Taurasi era, so to say the Mercury have been a success would be a borderline understatement.

A local Arizona poet is hoping to take that success to a new level.

Christopher Owens, also known as Truth B. Told, recently bought the whole level of the Mercury’s home arena – Talking Stick Resort Arena – to the tune of 7,000 tickets in hopes of helping the Mercury sell out its home opener on May 31.

He managed to buy the tickets at a discount since Talking Stick Resort Arena’s upper level does not get much use—and is also reselling the tickets also at a discount.

The Mercury’s home opener on May 31 is against the Las Vegas Aces at 7 p.m. mountain time.
