When basking in the glow of a dramatic national championship victory such as what happened this past Sunday with Notre Dame topping Mississippi State, one thing fans love to relive is how it happened from their own perspective.

A popular way this happens is by reliving the radio call of the victory. Below is how Arike Ogunbowale’s buzzer-beating three sounded on the Notre Dame IMG Sports Network.

The excitement of the Fighting Irish’s unforgettable title win conveyed via Notre Dame radio. A historic call of a historic moment – the women’s basketball team winning its first national championship since the early 2000s.

What a call such as this one also makes one think is why more WNBA teams should have radio announcers. The only WNBA team with a radio broadcast is the Minnesota Lynx.

Can one imagine in the next few years (or possibly even this upcoming season) an unforgettable, landmark, signature accomplishment in the W (such as Diana Taurasi last year becoming the league’s all-time scorer) and how that would be conveyed on radio? It would only make the accomplishment all the more memorable.
