When the untimely demise of Kobe and GiGi Bryant rocked the sports world (and the world) at large, it especially stunned those who had a chance to interact up close and personal with him and his family – one of whom being rising New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu.
A new commercial for Nike released right before the new year spotlights several top athletes, including Ionescu with an emphasis on her commitment to continuing the Black Mamba’s legacy.
Ionescu’s part can be seen at 0:44 in the spot and features highlights of her 2020 season in the Wubble – a season that was cut short after an ankle injury in the Liberty’s third game of the season (vs. the Atlanta Dream). It then cuts to still photos of Ionescu and Bryant together – including one that also had GiGi, the “Mambacita,” in it too.
The new spot, entitled “You Can’t Be Stopped,” also includes Naomi Osaka and Kevin Durant.
