Seattle is still basking in the glow of the Storm’s 2018 run to a WNBA championship, and will possibly be doing so all offseason.

And rightfully so.

Washington state’s two senators – Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell introduced a resolution recently honoring the Storm on bringing a third title to the Emerald City.

From the hard-earned efforts of the entire Storm roster, including superstars Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, and the coaches, health professionals, and the staff that make the Storm organization so successful, to their unapologetic support for important causes impacting women and girls, the Storm have cemented their legacy as one of the premier teams in the league while providing a strong model of how professional athletes can win while also living their commitments to their values on and off the court.

This season, the Storm came together for a memorable title run that made Washingtonians proud. Their teamwork, leadership, an camaraderie is a testament to what can be achieved when we worked together.

In all fairness to The Evergreen State’s junior senator, she did also identify the Storm’s title as a ‘national championship’ in the same statement– that, of course, is college hoops.

But, given that resolution is more recognition the Storm will receive for its 2018 efforts than what will be acknowledged up the street by He Who Shall Not Be Mentioned at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, we will give her a much-deserved pass.

Oh, and speaking of happenings in the nation’s capital…November 6th.
