The 1,098 is great for longtime Stanford Cardinal coach Tara VanDerveer.
But 1,099 will be completely divine. And 1,100 will feel like heaven(hundred) on Earth.

After the Cardinal’s 83-38 victory over Cal, Vanderveer now has earned 1,098 victories in her career – tying her with the late, great Pat Summitt of Tennessee for the most wins by a coach in Division I women’s basketball history.
It is safe to say that when one as a coach has accomplished something that puts said coach in the rarefied air with Pat Summitt that she or he has done something right.
Tuesday night is when Stanford hopes to get the victory that will break Summitt’s record. The Cardinal takes on Pacific at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
The win certainly drew headlines given the milestone VanDerveer has reached – but it also did for another reason … for Fran Belibi doing, well, Fran Belibi things.

Belibi scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the commanding victory for the top-ranked Cardinal. Cameron Brink scored 16 points with seven rebounds while Hannah Jump chimed in with 15. Kiana Williams tallied 11.
Fatou Samb had 10 points leading Cal. Ugonne Oniyah scored nine points and brought in 11 boards.
