It appears that the Las Vegas Aces will have plenty of fans not only in the state of Nevada, but 2,700 miles away in Columbia, South Carolina.

A push by many on South Carolina’s campus – including Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley has been proven to be successful as a statue of #22 will indeed be built.

The announcement was made by university president Harris Pastides at South Carolina’s commencement ceremony at Colonial Life Arena.

We will welcome you back one day to cut the ribbon on that statue.

While there are still several hurdles that still have to be cleared, it clearly has the support of the university president as well as Ray Tanner, the Gamecocks’ Athletic Director.

Dawn Staley pledged to put $100,000 herself towards the project and a South Carolina congressman recently proposed a resolution for an A’ja Wilson statue on the grounds of the state capitol building.
