The difference can be all in the kicks. The right shoes can be a key ingredient for the right game for anyone on the hardwood—and for the Seattle Storm’s Sue Bird, this is no exception.

Recently, she spoke with Slam Magazine about last season—and how the Kyrie’s have become one of her favorites.

Kyrie’s are at that level right now.

It looks good, obviously they have it on NikeID so people can be really creative with it. At the same time, for me, it’s one of the most comfortable shoes. When the 2s came out, it became one of my favorites. It’s a good combination of feeling good and looking good.

Bird averaged nearly 13 points and six assists in a 2016 season that saw the Storm reach the postseason. She also was a key piece in the USA Basketball Women’s National Team winning its sixth consecutive gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Speaking of those Games, Bird also spoke of how she has not only become fans of the Kyrie kicks—but of Kyrie Irving.

It was really cool to get to know him during the Olympics and build a friendship. It did start off talking about his shoe because I had a pair of the green and yellow ones, Storm colors. He commented on them. I was, like, ‘Oh, wait, you watch games?’

Irving also said he was playfully teasing Bird about having better colorways than he did, but acknowledged her being an aficionado of the Kyrie’s was an affirmation of her belief in him as well.
