We are closing in fast on the end of 2018 and the start of 2019 and Out Magazine, an influential publication aimed at the LGBTQ community has released its ‘Out100’ list for 2018.

Said list takes a look at the most influential figures in the LGBTQ community. Among this year’s list are the Seattle Storm’s Sue Bird and Layshia Clarendon of the Connecticut Sun.

Bird not only won her third WNBA championship this year with the Storm, but she and her partner Megan Rapinoe graced the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue.

If I can be an example of a person living their truth, and it can encourage others to do so, the ways LGBTQ people are viewed will continue to change and normalize.

Clarendon, earlier in the year, filed a lawsuit in Alameda County Superior Court claiming that the University of California’s assistant director of student services sexually assaulted her at his residence.

Women have been fighting back and speaking up, but finally the veil was lifted and some very powerful men were held accountable for their actions.
