Sylvia Fowles has been a Chicago staple for years, who was a major factor in their Finals run last season, and is no doubt one of the best in the league. However, change in inevitable, and it appears that the 3X All-Star and 2X DPOY is ready for something new.

Sky Coach Pokey Chatman revealed that Sylvia requested a trade, with only one team in mind. According to the original story in the Chicago Tribune:

“Syl expressed interest in only going to one team,” Chatman said, adding that the teams have exchanged proposals over the last two months. “She felt like wanted to try something new.”

Sylvia has played under Coach Chatman for many years including 3 seasons at her alma mater LSU, 2 seasons overseas in Europe, and the last 4 years in Chicago. Coach hopes to have all talks completely resolved by the start of training camp on May 17th:

“We’re going to look for fair-market value for an All-Star, top player in the world, two-time Olympic gold medal winner. Part of the conversation with Sylvia (is) she understands that. So I’m not going to put this franchise in a box; put the players that are here and on a quest to win a championship in jeopardy, and Sylvia understands that.”

I am just as interested as you to know what team it is and why just them. Sometimes change comes at the most unexpected times in the most unexpected ways. We’ll keep you posted on any new developments.
