Massachusetts typically is less-than-genteel territory for New York sports icons. An exception to this is when those that made their careers in the Big Apple get inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
That is what will happen this September when Teresa Weatherspoon takes her place among the game’s all-time greats.

The announcement was made during the Men’s Final Four in Minneapolis and was televised on ESPN2.
Just one peer at T-Spoon’s career and it reads Hall of Fame. She was a five-time WNBA All-Star and was the first player to record 1,000 points and 1,000 assists. Also on her impressive resume is an Olympic gold medal in 1988, an NCAA championship with Louisiana Tech, and being inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.
Oh…and then there’s this.
