As WNBA players continue their push for more fair pay, comments from a notable NBA player suggest said player is ready to get in the trenches with the ballers of the W.

Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers was in attendance in Las Vegas when the Aces faced the Connecticut Sun – a game where the Aces defeated Connecticut 94-90. After the game, he told reporters his thoughts on WNBA players receiving fair pay for fair work.

They deserve a lot more respect. They deserve to make a lot more money than they do.

I think it’s time people start recognizing that they are professional athletes, and they should be treated like it. And their league should be elevated and treated that way as well.

Such remarks from Lillard are not surprising to the W’s fanbase as it is the same Lillard who once suggested that Portland, formerly home to the Fire, would be a suitable future landing spot for a WNBA franchise.
