For those that had the chance to attend Elena Delle Donne and Amanda Clifton’s wedding on Long Island, it had to definitely be a memorable experience. And if one followed the festivities on Instagram and Twitter, the pictures alone had to make one wish they were there.

The processions took place at the Hempstead House in Nassau County this past Friday.

Earlier in the year, Delle Donne and Clifton were announced as The Knot’s Dream Wedding Couple of the Year. They both not only aimed to make their “I do’s” memorable, but they also hoped to give back as well by establishing a charity registry through The Knot for donations to the Elena Delle Donne Foundation.

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than they once were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death.

These words were read by Delle Donne’s agent, Erin Cane. They had significance given that they were the same words read by Justice Anthony Kennedy in the 2015 Supreme Court ruling that recognized same-sex marriages nationwide.

All but two of Delle Donne’s Washington Mystics teammates arrived for the occasion – as well as WNBA president Lisa Borders.

In addition, Nine Cakes constructed a 6-foot-4 wedding cake which happens to be around the same height as Delle Donne herself. At that size, that cake should have surprised everyone and displayed its interior post moves if you ask us…

Delle Donne wore an Ersa Atelier gown and Clifton donned a Pronovias gown before changing into ensembles from BHLDN, the weddings brand from Anthropologie. As a perk of The Knot getting everything all set up – they also chose the couple’s honeymoon destination – Tahiti.

If anything, the only letdown from the wedding – no appearance by Pink. But Delle Donne and Clifton did walk down the aisle with the string quartet Luminous Sounds performing their rendition of Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” – notably part of the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.

Love is love, indeed! Congratulations newlyweds!
