If all goes according to plan (fingers crossed), women’s basketball at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will commence on July 26 with the tournament lasting until August 8.

The 12-team field for the Games was determined at last year’s FIBA qualifiers and includes host country Japan, defending Rio 2016 gold medal winners USA along with Australia, Canada, Belgium, Spain, China, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Korea, Serbia and France.

The groups for the Tokyo 2020 were recently determined with Dawn Staley’s Team USA squad being part of Group B along with France, Japan and Nigeria.

The other two groups are Group A (Canada, Spain, Serbia and Korea) as well as Group C (Australia, Puerto Rico, China and Belgium).

Team USA will hold a minicamp at the University of South Carolina from Feb 4-Feb 7. Team Canada recently held a virtual training camp and is scheduled to hold an in-person training camp in Edmonton in May.

Team USA’s 3×3 team, comprised of Stefanie Dolson, Allisha Gray, Napheesa Collier and Kelsey Plum made it to the Palmetto State as well.
