USABWNT up for Best of the Games award

We have to be a bit honest…we miss the Olympics. Maybe not the Ryan Lochte stuff, but the competition itself.

The United States Women’s Basketball Team, of course, won their sixth consecutive gold medal at the Rio Games—and are now up for a Best Team Award as part of the Team USA Awards.

They certainly have a case to be made. After all, they epitomized what team basketball looks like when it is played and executed on the biggest stage at the highest level. They scored over 100 points on several occasions, including in the gold medal game vs. Spain, and at times when the offense was not clicking, the defense picked up the slack.

Oh, and their winning streak is now at 49 in Olympic play.

They do have some stiff competition from the other nominees, including the Final Five (Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian). The women’s track 400-meter relay team and the women’s water polo team are also up for the award.

Voting ends on 9/9, so you know where to go! (at this link)
