As of right now…the inside-the-Beltway stadium that is home to the Washington Mystics is no longer the Verizon Center.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the Mystics’ owners, have announced that the arena is now known as Capital One Arena.

Verizon’s deal was scheduled to expire in 2018, but per the Washington Post, Capital One’s involvement only accelerated the process. Bloomberg is reporting that the deal for Ted Leonsis and Monumental Sports is set to be $100 million over 10 years.

Capital One has a significant presence in the Washington, D.C. area—including branch locations for Capital One bank.

Capital One is one of the most influential local businesses in our region over the last two decades, so we couldn’t be more pleased to partner with another homegrown company to create more incredible memories for sports fans, music fans, families and friends all across our region.
