The first Monday of the second week of WNBA Free Agency did not produce any blockbuster trades or signings (as most of those took place in the category 5 maelstrom that was the first week).

It did, however, see some important pieces to last year’s teams re-up with said teams. The big one came out of the Nation’s Capital when the Washington Mystics re-upped with reigning Finals MVP Emma Meesseman.

Double-E-Double-S is expected to be a major piece in the Mystics puzzle to repeat as WNBA champions. Washington will field a team that includes reigning regular season MVP Elena Delle Donne and recent free agent signing Leilani Mitchell in addition to Meesseman, who has played her entire WNBA career inside the Beltway.

We saw Stefanie Dolson posted up all throughout the NBA All-Star festivities this past weekend in Chicago. Skytown can rejoice as it will see a lot more of Dolson’s basketball (and dance) moves in the Windy City as she inked a new multi-year deal to remain with the Sky.

Down Interstate 55 in Indianapolis, the Fever also made some headlines the Monday of the second week of the free agent period with the signings of Tiffany Mitchell and Betnijah Laney. As we all know, Indiana came within two games of making the postseason in 2019 and look to keep its young nucleus intact, especially heading into the season with new coach Marianne Stanley.

Expect Indiana (which will play its home games at Butler University’s Hinkle Fieldhouse because of Bankers Life Fieldhouse undergoing renovations) to be a surprise team to watch in 2020.

There was also news that the Mercury had re-upped with Yvonne Turner.

But according to the Arizona Republic’s Jeff Metcalfe…
