WNBA Stars Want Us to #LeanInTogether

Over the past week, you’ve probably seen the #LeanInTogether hashtag floating through your social media timelines, as have I. Well…if you haven’t heard already, the WNBA and NBA have teamed up with LeanIn.org. Founded by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, LeanIn.org launched the public service campaign to highlight how men benefit from equality for women. “Men should support their wives and daughters at home and their female colleagues in the workplace, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s great for them,” said Sandberg. “From stronger marriages and healthier, happier children to better outcomes at work, the benefits of men leaning in for equality are huge.”

The PSA below includes appearances by Elena Delle Donne, Tamika Catchings, Swin cash, Skylar Diggins, and Sue Bird, as well as many NBA stars like LeBron James, Russel Westbrook, and Kyle Lowry:

Commissioner Adam Silver also supports the Lean In campaign, stating “The NBA is committed to creating a work environment that expects, and benefits from, gender equality. #LeanInTogether provides men with the tools to share responsibilities equally in the office with our colleagues and at home with our families.”

Despite many strides and accomplishments that have been made over the past 50 years, gender inequality is still exists in the workplace, where women are still paid less than men, and a handful make it into the boardroom and hold top positions in major companies and organizations.
