The name Aerial Powers is not only well known within basketball circles in Michigan and Washington, D.C. – it is also known in gaming circles as well.

Esports has been a realm that has seen exponential growth throughout the years – and gaming has been a passion of Powers for quite sometime. She spoke with business news channel Cheddar about how her status as a gaming aficionados has evolved and grown over the years.

Powers noted that her favorite Xbox game was Call of Duty after she noticed her brother playing the game one day. As someone who is both a WNBA hooper and an avid gamer, she has made steps in creating a bridge between the two communities.

They’ve been really accepting. Like, they’ve been reposting my stuff, reposting my Twitch. A couple of the girls actually asked me, ‘Hey, how did you get started into this? How do I get started into this?’

How much of an avid gamer is Powers? She mentioned that she brought her entire gaming infrastructure with her when she went to China to play overseas, but that was cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Even the stereotype is kind of positive. So, everyone thinks that because I’m a WNBA player or because we are WNBA players, everyone’s good at 2K and that is not the case.

Then … Powers let it known that she challenged Mr. Kiari Cephus, aka Mr. Cardi B, aka Offset in NBA2K.

Would Offset accept? Of course he did.

If only the WNBA option in NBA2K was available in online mode … after all with Aerial Powers being part of the defending champion Washington Mystics and Offset being one-third of Atlanta’s Migos, who wouldn’t want to see a livestream of Powers and Offset playing on Twitch as the Mystics and Atlanta Dream?

Currently, the WNBA option in the latest NBA 2K20 was only made available for Play Now and Season modes (from what we know) so we will probably have to settle for Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks instead (and perhaps some Mortal Kombat which is Offset’s specialty).

Cest la vie….

Interestingly enough, Powers mentioned that her gaming equipment is still in China but that she is working to get it back to Detroit. Hopefully that equipment gets back to her soon because the gaming community and the WNBA community wants the Aerial Powers vs. Offset livestream.
