Prior to achieving WNBA greatness with the Las Vegas Aces, A’ja Wilson made her mark at South Carolina and became one of the greatest players in Gamecocks history – including leading South Carolina to the 2018 national championship in he senior year.
In 2019, plans were revealed to immortalize Wilson with a statue outside Colonial Life Arena, the South Carolina home court. Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley even mentioned that she would commit $100,000 towards the project.
