Our girl Becky is making MOVES and cracking at that glass ceiling more and more by the minute!
Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports that the San Antonio Spurs announced today that the 6x WNBA All-Star and future hall-of-famer will coach their Summer League team in Las Vegas later this month, making her the 1st female head coach to coach a summer league team. This comes on the heals of a historic season for Becky, who was hired by the Spurs as a full-time assistant head coach, another first in the NBA.
NBA Summer League begins on July 10th in Las Vegas, but the Spurs will also participate in the Summer League tournaments in Salt Lake City, UT, where video coordinator Will Hardy will coach the young men.
What I love the most about this is the fact that Coach Gregg Popovich isn’t waiting a long time to have Becky prove herself, and she will definitely represent the reputable organization well AND come back to San Antonio with wins.
Needless to say, we’ll be tuning in on July 11th when the Spurs take on the Knicks!
