If Becky Hammon is not a worthwhile candidate for head coaching positions in the NBA … then why is she still being under consideration for NBA jobs?
After the Indiana Pacers were dispatched from the Disney bubble in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Eastern Conference Finals-bound Miami Heat, the Pacers parted ways with Nate McMillan, which set the Pacers on a search for his successor.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, one of the names on the Pacers list is the current San Antonio Spurs assistant. Her name has been linked to several previous men’s coaching jobs at both the professional and college levels – including those of the Milwaukee Bucks (that eventually was won by former Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer) and the Colorado State men’s coaching job.
Hammon was also reportedly interest in becoming the New York Knicks’ head coach after the Knicks gave the pink slip to David Fizdale.
Also on the list of candidates for the job in Indiana is former Sacramento Kings coach Dave Joerger, who the Kings released after the 2018-19 season.
Hammon coached the Spurs summer league team to a championship in 2015.
