The final game of a four-game roadtrip for the Los Angeles Sparks concluded the way every basketball game this season has concluded so far for LA—in a win.
The Sparks defeated the Connecticut Sun by a final score of 77-72. Connecticut managed to hang tough and even claim a 43-41 halftime advantage, but thanks to 22 points, four rebounds, and four assists from Candace Parker, Los Angeles maintained its perfect record in 2016.
Also notable was that Sparks vs. Sun meant Ogwumike vs. Ogwumike.
Los Angeles also received a double-double by way of Nneka Ogwumike with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jantel Stewart also had 11 points.
For Connecticut, they were led by Jasmine Thomas, who had 17 points and Alex Bentley who added 14. Chiney Ogwuimike added nine rebounds.
The Sparks managed to keep Alyssa Thomas in check as she was two-for-seven from the field and only had seven points. Los Angeles shot 51 percent from the field as opposed to Connecticut’s 37.
The 5-0 Sparks will take the court once again on May 2 at home against the San Antonio Stars. Connecticut, now at 1-3 gets the Seattle Storm in Seattle later tonight.
