The year 2018 in women’s basketball was simply The Year of Stewie.

From a regular season MVP, to the Finals MVP, to winning MVP of the FIBA World Cup along with her first WNBA championship, this year was Breanna Stewart’s year.
That dominance over women’s basketball has been recognized by ESPN The Magazine as it recently unveiled its Dominant 20 list with the Seattle Storm’s resident No. 30 coming at the 7th spot.
She is the only women’s basketball player to make this year’s list. A good bit of the top half of that 20 hail from the Olympic realm – including Simone Biles who was named the most dominant athlete of 2018 by ESPN The Magazine.
The cover was revealed on the Dec. 11 edition of ABC’s Good Morning America, which included an interview between Biles and Robin Roberts.
Also on the list from the Olympic ranks were swimmer Katie Ledecky and snowboarder Chloe Kim, who finished fifth and sixth, respectively above Stewart.
Other notables on this year’s list include LeBron James, Alexander Ovechkin, Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, Drew Brees, James Harden, and Patrick Mahomes.
On Dec. 20, ESPN2 will air a ‘Dominant 20’ prime-time special slated to air at 9 p.m.
