On Wednesday January 13, the National Women’s Soccer League held its annual draft where several of the best women’s college soccer players witnessed their dreams come true as they prepare to ascend to the next level.
The NWSL draft was aired online via Twitch and those watching the proceedings noticed a great deal of WNBA representation to get fans pumped for the draft.
Among the special guests that appeared during the NWSL’s draft coverage was two-time WNBA champion (and two-time WNBA Finals MVP) Breanna Stewart. Another W notable that appeared during the event was Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings.
Also checking in to hype up NWSL fans for the day’s draft was Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks. Parker was also one of the several investors that was announced for NWSL’s Los Angeles expansion franchise – Angel City FC.

The draft was hosted by Marisa Pilla, analysts Lori Lindsey and Jen Cooper as well as reporter Jordan Angeli.
Many of talented players were selected to the NWSL’s 10 teams – including the top three selections of North Carolina’s Emily Fox to Racing Louisville FC, Washington State’s Trinity Rodman (daughter of Dennis) being drafted to the Washington Spirit and North Carolina’s Brianna Pinto being selected by Sky Blue FC.
Kiara “Kiki” Pickett from Stanford was selected fourth by Kansas City and Emina Ekic will go right up the street from the Louisville Cardinals to Racing Louisville FC.
