Earlier this week, we found out the 22 players that were selected to participate in next week’s All-Star Game in Minneapolis. But because of the updated format that has the two top vote-getters draft teams in lieu of the traditional East vs. West format, we did not know which players would play for which teams.
The answer to that question was revealed on Thursday when we found out the rosters for Team Parker and Team Delle Donne.
Team Parker will include her Los Angeles Sparks teammates Chelsea Gray and Nneka Ogwumike along with Maya Moore, Chiney Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Jewell Loyd, Allie Quigley, Liz Cambage, Tina Charles, and Angel McCoughtry. Moore – as the top vote-getter – would have been a team captain, but she declined the role.
As for Team Delle Donne, her Washington Mystics teammate Kristi Toliver is on said team – as is Seimone Augustus, Sue Bird, Kayla McBride, Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson, Sylvia Fowles, DeWanna Bonner, Diana Taurasi, and Brittney Griner.
Parker and Delle Donne made their selections during a Thursday conference call.
The Seattle Storm’s Dan Hughes and the Phoenix Mercury’s Sandy Brondello were named as All-Star coaches as their respective teams mustered the two best records in the WNBA through July 13. Hughes will coach Team Delle Donne and Brondello will be at the helm for Team Parker.
