The Los Angeles Sparks’ Candace Parker joined a cavalcade of NBA players and celebrities in raising money for the late Craig Sager’s SagerStrong Foundation at All-Star Weekend in New Orleans.
Shortly after the conclusion of the Three-Point Shooting Contest, Ernie Johnson took centerstage with Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker. Parker and a host of basketball luminaries, along with celebrities, took the court and participated in an impromptu three-point shooting session with every shot made contributing an additional $10,000 to the foundation.
In total, $130,000 was raised prior to Stephen Curry coming on the court and attempting several half-court shots. Several of them were close, but none went through the hoop, but Sager’s son Ryan came on the court, and with an assist from Shaquille O’Neal, put one through the basket, making official the $500,000 contribution to the foundation.
Of all the highlights that there were in New Orleans, that has to be at the top of the list.
