WNBA players have been notable for making moves into the realm of media even during their playing days.
Chiney Ogwumike is a notable figure on ESPN’s basketball coverage and Lindsey Whalen recently did some work with Fox Sports North’s coverage of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Viewers of Turner Sports’ basketball coverage will be seeing Candace Parker more frequently on their television screens as the two-time league MVP and 2016 WNBA champion has signed an agreement to be part of its hoops coverage.
Parker will be featured as an analyst for the NBA on TNT as well as on NBA TV. She will also provide commentary and analysis for Turner and CBS Sports’ coverage of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, as she did for last season’s March Madness.
I love broadcasting because it allows me to share my passion for basketball with viewers, and I look forward to sharing my analysis and commentary in a variety of formats.
–Candace Parker per league press release
She’s a trailblazer in every sense of the word and we can’t wait to further showcase her talents as a commentator across our collective basketball portfolio.
–Tara August, Vice President of Talent Relations and Special Projects, Turner Sports, per league press release
Parker will be featured on TNT and NBA TV’s Players Only telecasts as well as on NBA TV’s Gametime with appearances on Sunday nights starting on Oct. 21.
