WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will be part of an upcoming virtual ‘Team Up For Change’ summit that will include several other WNBA and NBA teams.
According to a release, there will be a three-hour live stream on October 21 and will feature speakers from the Dallas Wings, Indiana Fever and Minnesota Lynx as well as from the Sacramento Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks.
Topics will range from criminal justice reform to the importance voting to engagement in one’s community to holding police accountable.
Every team taking part is also holding local events throughout the week of October 21 in their team’s respective market. The Kings are also spearheading another initiative with an aim to maximize turnout at the polls this year in tandem with six WNBA teams – the Fever, Lynx, Phoenix Mercury, Chicago Sky, Washington Mystics and the 2020 WNBA champion Seattle Storm.
