Listeners to National Public Radio stations probably hear the name “American Public Media” in show credits more than once. That is because APM is the production and distribution arm of some of NPR’s most popular programs – including Marketplace, The Daily and the BBC World Service.
The podcasting realm became a bit bigger recently with the addition of Chamique Holdsclaw to that realm. She debuted the new “Tremendous Upside” podcast via APM.
According to Swish Appeal, Holdsclaw initially thought she was only meeting with the Minnesota-based public media syndicator about an interview. Instead – she received an invite for her own full-fledged podcast.
It hasn’t felt like I’m doing this on my own. They wanted it presented in my own voice. It’s definitely gotten me out of my comfort zone.

Holdsclaw has already spoken with a number of noteworthy sports figures on her podcast – including Metta World Peace, Kenny Anderson and Brian Dawkins.
In recent years, since her retirement from the WNBA, she has become a major ambassador on the topic of her mental health as she recollects her own mental health struggles she encountered in her earlier years.
She mentioned that a huge portion of her efforts has been the opportunity to inspire young people to never give up.
They’re standing up, they’re change agents, they’re sharing, they’re aware of their emotional wellness. It’s a changing of times, and I’m glad to impart any wisdom I can.
