On August 23rd the entire sports world, including the WNBA paid tributes to the late, great Kobe Bryant on what would have been his 42nd birthday. He, his daughter Gianna and several others died earlier this year in a helicopter crash in California.
Diana Taurasi was one of the many within the WNBA that paid tribute to Nos. 8 and 24, who was a huge supporter and advocate of the W. She wore a jersey that had his original No. 8 with “Bryant” on the back – and scored 34 points en route to an 88-87 Phoenix Mercury victory over the Washington Mystics.
With the last couple of days being what would have been his 24th birthday and 8/24, tributes came pouring in paying homage to the Black Mamba.
