DoorDash becomes official on-demand delivery platform of WNBA

A few years ago, advertisements for DoorDash began appearing at NBA games – most notably for the Golden State Warriors, notably in the backyard of DoorDash in the Bay Area.

In the coming years, we will be seeing a lot more of the Palo Alto-based DoorDash at basketball games as the company announced it will be the official on-demand delivery platform of the WNBA, NBA, G-League and 2KLeague.

The pact between DoorDash and the NBA/WNBA family of leagues also comes with an added announcement. DoorDash announced the #PlayItForward challenge to encourage users of the platform to support Black-owned businesses. It is doing so in tandem with several NBA players including CJ McCollum, Victor Oladipo, Jrue Holiday and Dennis Schroder.

The DoorDash agreement was not the only one announced just this week for the WNBA.

In another sponsorship deal, the NBA/WNBA family of leagues also announced that Oculus, a Facebook-owned virtual reality platform, has inked a multiyear pact making it its first ever virtual reality partner.

The deal allows for WNBA games to be available via 2D in addition to streaming games on Facebook Watch.

Providing more opportunities to view WNBA games on innovative platforms will drive expanded coverage to our growing fan base, and combined with our other broadcast partners, will help sculpt the future landscape of the fan experience.
