Part of the greatness of LeBron James is that he is using his platform he maintains as one of the biggest sports figures, not only in basketball and in the United States, but around the world to further elevate women athletes.
He notably, after losing in the 2017 NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors, mentioned that he would be spending the offseason keeping up with the WNBA.
And has repeatedly shouted out women ballers on social media for their accomplishments on the court.
Recently, his Uninterrupted platform along with HBO Sports launched The Shop, starring LeBron and his business partner and longtime friend Maverick Carter. One of its most recent guests was the Washington Wizards’ Elena Delle Donne.
In her appearance, she touched on the pay gap between WNBA and NBA athletes and how a great deal of the pushback that women athletes get for fighting for higher salaries has everything to do with misogyny in society.
We’re fighting these battles, so hopefully your daughter won’t have to.
–Elena Delle Donne
She also mentioned the topic of mental health while playing sports and summed it up all up with a few words that no one talks to you more in any day than yourself.
Delle Donne is not the only WNBA player to be seen in The Shop. In its inaugural episode, the Los Angeles Sparks’ Candace Parker was a featured guest.

It says something about @Candace_Parker that @KingJames chose her to be the voice in the room to represent women & @WNBA. It also says something about LeBron that she is in the room. Candace's role as a leader & voice of representation has grown immensely over the last few years. https://t.co/EUxSEBynfX

That’s two episodes and twice a WNBA player has been featured. Well done, for sure.
