Prior to this season, it was headline news throughout the WNBA when it was found that Elena Delle Donne would be leaving the Chicago Sky and heading to the Washington Mystics – currently the closest WNBA franchise to her home state of Delaware.
Her Mystics jersey is apparently selling like hotcakes as it has been revealed she has the most popular jersey currently in the W.
Second on that list is the Seattle Storm’s Breanna Stewart who just finished her second season in the league and is already establishing herself as one of the WNBA’s premier players and most recognizable faces.
Third on that list is Diana Taurasi. It is also not much of a surprise the Phoenix Mercury great would be on the list given her influence on women’s basketball over the years and this year she achieved a notable plateau when she became the W’s all-time leading scorer.
Fourth on the list is Maya Moore who coming from UConn and having won three championships with the Minnesota Lynx (and possibly a fourth), it is a classic example of fans rewarding excellence and a career filled with wins and championships.
Fifth on the list is Sue Bird. She received a plethora of extra attention towards the midpoint of this season as the served, practically as the grand marshal for this year’s All-Star Game in Seattle. There was also plenty of speculation that this could be her last season, but all indications are she will be back next year.
