There is a significant meaning for Elena Delle Donne’s new pair of Nike kicks – and it is present in the design itself.
Delle Donne and Nike first announced the Air Zoom UNVRS in August and it is now available per Nike’s website for $160. What makes the sneakers stand out is it does not require hand use to put on and fits different foot shapes. The sneakers also use FlyEase technology.
FlyEase is described as “easy-entry footwear systems designed to help athletes put on and secure their shoes – with zero compromise to fit and performance,” per the Nike website.
It also says any shoe must meet two of three criteria to be described as FlyEase – easy open and close, easy to get in and out of and adjustability that accommodates different foot shapes and sizes.
The inspiration for the sneakers came from Delle Donne’s sister Lizzie, who lives with disabilities including blindness, deafness and autism.

My sister is the inspiration for all of my choices. She gives me strength. Everyone thinks I carry her, but she’s the one carrying me.
